I grew up in a Christian home, but I didn’t trust in Christ as my Savior until my second year at UVa. God revealed Himself to me through the bible studies and witness of a campus student group. I gave my life to Christ and made a commitment to learn to walk by faith in Him.
After graduation I worked at a bank in North Carolina, but while attending church one Sunday when a missionary was speaking, God called me into the ministry. My first step in surrendering to that call was to become a Journeyman missionary to Zambia Africa through our Baptist International Mission Board. While in Africa for a two year period I met my wife- to- be Miss Dana Brask who was teaching for the American Embassy School of Lusaka also under a two year service agreement.
Upon our arrival in America we were married. By God’s grace I was blessed to be married to the most wonderful person I’ve ever known. While in school at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, I was called to pastor Corinth Baptist Church in Mcquady, KY. We grew together as pastor and congregation both spiritually and numerically for 17 wonderful years. We were so blessed to serve there, and it was hard to leave.
But the Lord called us to Roanoke, Virginia in 2007 and we came without a church or a job, but with the sure conviction we were supposed to be here as a part of God’s plan. I knew it was His will to be back close to my mother and family here in VA but that’s all I knew.
Then Villa Heights Baptist Church asked us to come and interview and preach. Wow, we connected from day one. We both love God’s Word and genuinely love one another. That day was January 6th, 2008 and we’ve been blessed to serve God with this wonderful congregation ever since.
Our Lord Jesus Christ has given us a Great Command (Love) to obey and a Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) to fulfill and by His Grace we will do so until he comes again and takes us home to heaven.
