I was genuinely saved at the age of 15 as a freshman in high school. I had grown up surrounded by the truth of the gospel, but I was too caught up with my own agenda for my life that I paid no attention to God’s plan. Being saved at the age of 15 was transforming for me because previously I had been rebellious, selfish, spiteful, full of lust, and a thief. So when I realized that God wanted me to leave all those things behind my former friends didn’t know what to think. I was separated from them for a summer as I worked at a Christian camp. This was a real growing experience for me spiritually. At camp I met with God daily by reading the Bible and praying in private and with other camp staff. When I came back as a sophomore in school I was a completely different person. I had been transformed by the grace of God in my life. Students and teachers alike were surprised at how God had worked in my life.
During my junior year in high school I realized God was calling me to be a preacher. So after high school I attended Appalachian Bible College in Beckley, West Virginia. My sophomore year of college I spent studying the Bible for nine months in Israel. It was the best experience of my life so far. I treasured every moment as I was able to travel the land, walk where Jesus walked, participate in an archaeological dig, study Hebrew, and, of course, study the Bible. I graduated from Appalachian in May of 2011 with a degree in Bible/Pastoral ministry.
In January of 2012 I began serving as youth minister at Villa Heights. My heart is tightly connected with this age group because I was a teen when Jesus so powerfully transformed my life. I recognize the fact that living for Jesus as a teenager in today’s world is a major challenge and can only be accomplished through the power of His grace. With this in mind it is my goal and aim to spread His grace through studying, preaching, sharing, and living God’s word through genuine relationships, fun activities, and weekly meetings.
Later on in 2012 (December 15th to be exact) I married my wife Erica. She has challenged me and grown me in amazing ways and is always there to support the youth ministry and myself. I appreciate and love her a lot.
Late one night in June of 2013 I was unable to sleep because my mind was so focused on questions concerning God, the devastating effects of sin, and how so many people are failing to see how Jesus is compatible with their lives. So I started writing a book. After over 2 years of studying and praying over these issues I finally finished it. This book is for anyone who needs a reminder of why Jesus is the answer to their problems. It will help them to hope again in his saving power. Click here to view the book on Amazon.
